About Cobb Mountain

Oak trees, pine and other conifers blanket the mountainous region of Cobb CA with all shades of green. Great moss-covered boulders and rich, reddish soils add to the native color palette. The air is crisp and clean, really clean.

Cobb CA itself is five square miles in size, virtually all land, with a population of approximately 1,800. The area is named for John Cobb, who settled in Cobb Valley in 1853. The first post office at Cobb opened in 1911. Here are a few highlights to give you a further feel for Cobb CA real estate:

Recreation – Cobb has two beautiful golf courses of 9 holes each, Cobb Meadows (referred to by locals as the Rob Roy golf course) and Adams Springs. The local Boggs Mountain Demonstration State Forest has almost 4,000 acres for hiking, mountain biking, hunting and other recreational activities.

Lodging – Famous for its hot springs, Cobb CA was a popular resort area from the 1870s to 1970s. While there are currently no resorts in use, Cobb has several Inns for stay and charming Bed and Breakfast establishments.

Economy – The Geysers, the largest complex of geothermal power plants in the world, is located in the mountains just south of Cobb, providing many jobs and strengthening the local economy.

Cobb CA is located in a relatively secluded area, while still being close enough to Napa Valley and Santa Rosa areas that its residents are never far away from urban amenities.
